How do you build a creative career that evolves with life’s seasons?

Ella Kasperowicz AKA Ellastrated is a Nottingham-based illustrator who has built a wonderfully varied career from her playful, colourful illustrations; her practice spans client work, commissions, products, publishing and her hugely relatable personal comics.

In this honest and open conversation, Ella will take us behind the scenes of that journey - from finding her voice and building an audience online, to illustrating children’s books, developing products and, more recently, figuring out what her practice looks like alongside being a mum to her daughter Maxie (and cavapoochon Dora!). Because a creative career rarely follows a straight line. Our lives change, our priorities shift, and the way we work has to evolve with life’s flow!

What we’ll be chatting about:

✨ The art of the juggle
See how Ella has built a practice that spans commercial illustration, custom commissions, and her own product range, and made all three work together.

✨ Creativity & motherhood
An honest look at what it’s like to make work while raising a family, how Ella’s day-to-day practice has changed, and where she’s finding inspiration in this new season of life.

✨ Behind the books
A peek behind the scenes of illustrating three children’s books, and how book illustration fits into a career that also includes clients, commissions, and products.

✨ Finding your people online
See how Ella uses her personal comics and Instagram to connect with an audience, build a loyal following, and discover opportunities for her wider practice.

✨ Lessons from the journey
Reflections on what’s worked, what she’d do differently, and advice for anyone trying to build, or rebuild, a sustainable creative practice around a busy life

Who’s it for?

Creatives, illustrators, parents balancing a creative practice alongside family life, job, studies, or other commitments. Whether you’re just starting out or already building your own creative business, you’ll leave this talk with honest insights into commissions, product, publishing, personal work, and balancing that juggle!

The Session:

This will be delivered via a presentation, Q&A, and prompts to help you generate ideas and take your first (or next) step after the session. Expect an open, relaxed session with shared experiences and honest conversation.

The Important Bit:
