THE PRINTED PEANUT: Sustaining Success with Scissors, Shows & Sales with Louise Lockhart | 5th August
Sustaining Success with Scissors, Shows & Sales:
Small Fry Presents... the wonderful Louise Lockhart, AKA @theprintedpeanut
Louise works from her farm in rural Wales, where she creates playful worlds from paper cut-outs and line drawings that have since appeared on books, products, packaging, and textiles for major brands. In this talk, she'll take us behind the scenes of publishing children's books, creating products as The Printed Peanut, and curating her first solo show.
What to Expect:
How I found my way into illustration - Finding my creative voice and building a career from a love of drawing.
Behind the scenes of my first solo exhibition - The journey to exhibiting at Yorkshire Sculpture Park and lessons learned along the way.
Turning artwork into products - Building up The Printed Peanut via wholesale, licensing and stockists.
Using social media to connect - Sharing work online, connecting with customers, and what has worked for me.
Lessons from 14 years of The Printed Peanut & what's next - Reflections on building a creative business and where the journey is heading next.
About Louise:
Louise Lockhart spends her days creating designs from little paper cut outs and line drawings, observing little things that others may overlook. Her colourful work has been used by brands such as Mini Boden, M&S and Anthropologie on packaging and textiles. She is currently working on her 11th book with children’s publisher Nosy Crow. Never quite fitting into any particular box, Louise's work spans across disciplines bridging the gap between art, print making, textiles, design and illustration. Her first solo show is currently on display at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (til 2nd aug). Louise also makes products for her online shop The Printed Peanut which she started in 2012.
